Skin in Melbourne
Facials, treatments, laser and skin clinics.
Facials
Facials fall into two broad camps: the relaxing kind, and the results-driven kind. Both are legitimate — the mistake is booking one when you wanted the other.
- If you want to switch off, look for quiet rooms and massage in the treatment description.
- If you want visible change, look for a clinic that assesses your skin and plans a course.
Skin clinics
Clinical skin work — peels, needling, LED, pigment and acne management — is a course of treatments, not a one-off. The consultation is the part that determines whether it works.
- An assessment and a written plan before any treatment is booked.
- Honesty about how long results take. Meaningful change is usually 12 weeks, not one session.
Laser hair removal
Laser hair removal works by targeting pigment in the hair, which is why the machine has to be matched to your skin tone. This is the single most important thing to check before booking.
- A patch test before the first treatment. It should be standard and it should be free.
- Clinics with more than one device type, so treatment can be matched to your skin.
