How much does a men's haircut cost in Australia?

What barbers and salons publish for men's cuts and beard work.

The range

Lower quartile
$30

a quarter are cheaper

Midpoint
$45

half are either side

Upper quartile
$65

a quarter are dearer

Half of the published prices sit between $30 and $65, with a midpoint of $45. That is drawn from 900 Australian businesses that publish this pricing, as collected on 18 August 2026.

Why the range is so wide

Barber price lists are the flattest of any category here — most quote one number for a cut and one for a beard trim. What moves the total is combinations: cut-and-beard packages, and the skin fade or hot-towel lines that sit above the standard cut.

By city

Largest sample first. A city appears only where at least 25 businesses publish this pricing, because below that a single expensive salon moves the whole row.

What these numbers are, and are not

Every figure is computed from businesses’ own published service menus — 2,080 priced lines from 900 businesses, collected on 18 August 2026. None of it is typed in by hand.

A published price is not a quote. What you are charged depends on your hair, your skin and how long the appointment actually takes, and many businesses quote on consultation rather than publishing at all — 900 businesses in our catalogue offer this service, and 900 of them publish a price for it. The ones that publish are not a random sample of the ones that do not.
